POSITION SUMMARY:
Drivers are responsible for transporting residents, staff, or handling deliveries in a timely manner, and may have to work nights and weekends to accomplish their duties.
Drivers may also assist Maintenance in completing general work around the community.
REPORTS TO: MAINTENANCE DIRECTOR/EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
Transport residents, staff and/or packages to and from destinations
Arrive at destinations on schedule
Fulfill administrative needs as assigned
Research and plan for traffic, construction, and weather delays
Use navigation applications to determine the best route, if available
Always interact with residents and staff professionally
Ensure that the community vehicle is always fueled and ready for use
Arrange for vehicle repairs as needed
Keep mileage records and repair records up-to-date
Assist residents to transfer onto the vehicle and into seating
Operate van lift
Keep community vehicles clean inside and out
Complete motor vehicle check list prior to and after each trip.
Other duties as assigned.
EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS:
High school diploma.
A minimum of one year of driving vans for seniors.
Hold valid driver’s license in the state where the Community is located.
Must have clean driving record and meet all other employee requirements.
Must be able to speak and write the English language in an understandable manner.
Must function independently with minimal supervision, be flexible in scheduling, have personal integrity, be able to work effectively with residents, personnel, outside vendors, and other support agencies.
Must be able to interact with residents who are highly susceptible to common illness without exposing them to additional health risks.
May assist Maintenance Director in keep facility in compliance with government regulations including OSHA, Life Safety Code, and assisted living regulations, if applicable.
Must be able to assist in the evacuation of residents in emergency situations.
Must always maintain a professional appearance and attitude.
PHYSICAL SPECIFICATIONS
Ability to perform a wide variety of activities and must be able to lift a minimum of 40 pounds, carry, drive, pull, push, squat, bend, climb, kneel, reach, crawl, twist, grasp, and feel to perform assigned duties.
The worker is subject to inside and outside environmental conditions and frequent interruptions.
May be subject to extreme weather conditions (i.
e.
, temperatures below 32 degrees and over 90 degrees).
May work beyond normal working hours, on weekends and holidays when necessary.
Scheduled hours may change to meet resident and community needs.
