Title: Academic Specialist: Academic and Student Affairs Department: Academic & Student Affairs Supervisor: Academic & Student Affairs Coordinator Pay Grade: 5 Revision Date: 10/27/2023 Location: Health Sciences Center Approved by: President Position Summary: The part-time Academic Specialist, Academic and Student Affairs reports directly to the Academic & Student Affairs Coordinator.
A considerable amount of initiative and judgment is required for the position within the assigned scope of responsibility.
The person in this position provides support for the academic & student affairs areas and sometimes in other areas as delegated.
Specific Responsibilities: 1.
Assists the Academic & Student Affairs Coordinator with the day-to-day operational aspects of the academic and student affairs departments.
Tasks can include but are not limited to: copying, maintaining department files, responding to telephone and email messages, and correspondence inside and outside of the college.
2.
Assists with class cancellation(s) when faculty call off.
3.
Assists with the Science Fair.
4.
Assists with Math Counts.
5.
Assists with TEAMS/JETS.
6.
Assists with graduation.
7.
Provide information and guidance to visitors of the HSC.
8.
Collect, review, record, and file course syllabi each semester.
9.
Enter HEI Course Sections Taught data each semester.
10.
Tours for potential students and employees.
11.
Assists with recruiting events as needed.
12.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Physical Requirements: Note: Please rank the below tasks as F for Frequent (6+ hours daily), M for Moderate (4-6 hours daily), O for Occasional (2-4 hours daily) or R for Rarely(>2 hours daily).

Proficient with data entry technology and computer skills such as: Microsoft office.

Development of a working knowledge of Jenzabar.
3.
Knowledge of customer service and above-average problem-solving ability.
4.
Excellent interpersonal communication, confidentiality, and organizational skills are required.
5.
The equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the assigned duties.
