JOB The Department of Transportation is seeking a Transportation Equipment Operator Trainee in Washington County! As a Transportation Equipment Operator Trainee, you will build the skills and knowledge you need to become a proficient Transportation Equipment Operator with on-the-job training.
Apply Today! EXAMPLE OF DUTIES This is a trainee position that is responsible for operating highway construction and maintenance equipment and performing a variety of manual laboring duties on a highway or bridge maintenance crew.
Trains for licensing and certification to operate heavy construction equipment which includes at least the following: Heavy Truck/Tandem Axle (HT/TA) and loader (LD) (bucket capacity of 4.
5 cubic yards or less) on highway or bridge maintenance crews; learns to perform and document required pre-and post-operation checks and make necessary field adjustments to permit safe operation and minimize wear.
Operates a variety of hand and foot controls, utilizes seat belts and installs and removes tire chains on dual wheels.

Work Schedule and Additional Information: Full-time employment.
Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch.
Dual shifts, overtime, and travel may be required.
