We are looking for a skilled Accounting Clerk to perform a variety of financial tasks to ensure the organization’s daily accounting functions run accurately and effectively.
Duties/Responsibilities:
· Accounts Receivable
o Prepares, posts, verifies, and records customer payments and transactions related to accounts receivable.
o Creates invoices/billing statements according to organization practices and submits to customers.
o Addresses customer correspondence timely and professionally.
o Researches customer discrepancies with the assistance of the Controller if necessary.
o Collaborates with the Controller to draft correspondence for past-due accounts and collections and contacts delinquent accountholders to request payment.
· Accounts Payable
o Pays and maintains records of all invoices, employee reimbursements, and organization credit card transactions.
o Monitors sales tax liabilities and ensures timely remittance and filed returns.
o Creates new vendor accounts when necessary and obtains required information.
o Provides other clerical support necessary to pay the obligations of the organization.
· Payroll
o Maintains payroll information by calculating and entering data into third party software.
o Updates payroll records by entering any changes to employee information or benefits such as job title changes, exemptions, and deductions.
o Resolves payroll discrepancies and answers employee payroll questions with the assistance of the Director of Operations if necessary.
o Maintains all payroll operations according to organization policies and procedures.
o Provides W-2 forms to employees.
o Generates and distributes annual employee contracts.
o Assists the Director of Operations with obtaining required human resource documents.
· Other
o Securely maintains the petty cash fund.
o Assists the Controller with the monthly close process.
o Reconciles bank statements on a monthly basis.
o Copies, files, and retrieves digital and physical financial information as needed.
o Clarifies any questionable transactions, prices, signatures, etc.
o Ensures the accuracy of the organization’s financial information.
o Assists with the annual financial statement audit.
o Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
· Ability to maintain confidentiality of payroll and customer information as well as all financial information of the organization.
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
· Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software as well as other accounting and payroll software programs.
· Ability to operate related office equipment, such as computer, 10-key calculator, and copier.
· Ability to work independently and anticipate work needs.
· Ability to interact professionally with customers and employees.
· Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Education and Experience:
· Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting preferred.
· At least two years of related experience required.
Physical Requirements:
· Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
· Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $35,000.
