Title: Temporary Full-time Faculty, Industrial Trades-HVAC Department: Academic and Student Affairs Supervisor: Director of Industrial Trades Pay Grade: Per Faculty Model Revision Date: 8/2023 Location: Mechanical Technical Center Approved by: President Position Summary: Primary responsibilities include instruction and assessment in the programs, ensuring relevancy and currency of education consistent with industry standards, and managing the industrial trade’s labs.
This position is a grant funded position.
Specific Responsibilities: 1.
Perform instructional, committee, and other duties as assigned.
2.
Assist the Director of Industrial Trades and Dean of Academic Affairs with student recruitment, retention, and graduation.
3.
Develop and maintain professional contacts by attending conferences and by actively participating in professional organizations.
4.
Maintain ongoing professional development.
5.
Provide assistance to students working in the industrial trades open lab.
6.
Maintain a clean, professional lab environment by keeping equipment in proper running order, keeping floors and table tops clean, and promoting proper safety procedures using OSHA guidelines.
7.
Participate in enrollment management initiatives, including marketing, recruitment, and retention of students.
8.
Coordinate equipment maintenance and repair.
9.
Order supplies.
10.
Perform program and course assessment activities as assigned.
11.
Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate assessment strategies to measure Core Learning Outcomes and direct measures of student learning.
12.
Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate examinations and other assessment methodologies.
13.
Design, implement, and evaluate a systematic plan for program evaluation in collaboration with the Director of Industrial Trades and Dean of Academic Affairs.
14.
Maintain the academic standards and integrity of the program.
15.
Develop, execute, evaluate, and update the course syllabi and provide Belmont College with the most recent official copy in electronic format.
16.
Prepare daily lesson plans, course outlines, and other instructional materials as needed for effective instruction.
17.
Develop, teach, and evaluate all assigned courses incorporating active learning strategies.
18.
Recommend and order texts and other instructional materials to be used for instruction.
19.
Maintain a schedule of available office hours for consultation with students and others as may be required.
20.
Guide and counsel the student in her/his educational adjustments.
Refer students for counseling and tutoring when necessary.
21.
Recognize and adapt teaching style to the educational needs of the individual students.
22.
Communicate tact and impartiality in dealing with students and student related problems.
23.
Demonstrate expertise in independent decision making, incorporating goals and objectives of the course.
24.
Demonstrate competency in use of email, voice mail, and word processing.
25.
Provide instruction at off-campus sites as assigned.
26.
Submit attendance and grades for assigned students electronically as required and maintain appropriate grading documentation.
27.
Plan, attend, and assist with student, faculty, and college activities, such as Math Counts and Science Fair.
28.
Attend department faculty meetings.
29.
Establish and maintain professional communication and working relationships with all college faculty, administration, and staff.
30.
Serve on assigned or voluntary committees, governance teams, and task forces.
31.
Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate College and faculty policies, including FERPA.
32.
As needed, assist the Vice President of Academic and Student Affairs and the Dean of Academic Affairs in the preparation of course descriptions and instructional schedules.
33.
Recommend curriculum changes and/or revisions to improve the instructional process to the Vice President of Academic and Student Affairs and the Dean of Academic Affairs.
Assist in the development of new related proposed technologies.
34.
Assist the Vice President of Academic and Student Affairs and the Dean of Academic Affairs in all advisory committee functions.
35.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Bachelor’s degree in an area related to industry or manufacturing; and 2.
Master’s degree preferred; and 3.
Prior teaching experience required, preferably in a college environment; and 4.
Prior industry experience and/or certifications related to HVAC/R; and 5.
Experience in a hands-on setting with a proven safety record in the use of tools and equipment, and environmental hazards; or 6.
Any equivalent combination of experience and education which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the assigned duties.
